Spencer Industries Announces Expansion in Hampton County

Spencer Industries, Inc. has announced that the company will expand operations at their Hampton County facility to increase production capacity and capture a larger market share in the thermoformed plastics industry. According to Plant Manager Todd Warren, the expansion represents a capital investment of $1.2 million and will create a total of 12 jobs at the Hampton County location.

“We are pleased to announce that we have already hired two new employees and plan to hire ten more over the next eighteen months,” said Warren. “We are bringing in more advanced production equipment to improve our production capabilities, and we are upgrading our facility.”

“Spencer Industries is a leading manufacturer of plastic components and the company’s decision to expand its operations in Hampton County is a testament that our business-friendly climate and skilled workforce are working to provide the foundation existing businesses need grow. We congratulate Spencer Industries on their success and look forward to their continued growth in the years ahead,” said Joe Taylor, Secretary of Commerce.

“Spencer Industries would like to thank the S.C. Department of Commerce, the Town of Hampton, Hampton County, and the economic development team for their support and assistance in this expansion,” said Warren. “We are committed to growing our facility in Hampton and increasing our presence in South Carolina.”

According to Hampton County Economic Development Commission Chairman DeThane Johnson, “Spencer Industries has demonstrated their commitment to our local workforce through job creation and capital investment, which is the best way to improve the quality of life for our citizens. Businesses like Spencer Industries are the backbone of our local economy.”

“Hampton County is a great place to start, relocate or expand a business, and we appreciate Spencer Industries’ commitment to our community,” said Hampton County Administrator Sabrena Posey Graham. “We are proud of the team effort of our local, regional and state leadership in making this expansion possible. We want to assure Mr. Warren and his team that Hampton County is committed and responsive to the needs of our existing industries.”

“Spencer Industries is an asset to our industrial community,” said Hampton County Economic Development Commission Director Sandy Fowler. “Their innovative approach to both training and manufacturing will not only create a competitive advantage for the company, it will allow Spencer Industries to create a dozen good jobs with full benefits in a county where the workforce truly appreciates the opportunity and will exceed the company’s expectations.”

Fowler added that Spencer Industries worked closely with the S.C. Department of Commerce, the Technical College of the Lowcountry, and the regional and local economic development teams to bring the production line to Hampton County.

“We are grateful to Spencer Industries for their investment in our local economy,” said Mr. John Rhoden, Mayor of the Town of Hampton. “A dozen jobs created in a small town like Hampton has a greater impact than it may have in larger communities. We will do everything we can to foster a business friendly environment to enable companies like Spencer Industries to flourish in our area.”

“Congratulations to Spencer Industries, Todd Warren, and his production team,” said SouthernCarolina Alliance Chairman Johnny Williamson. “This expansion is welcome news anytime, but especially as we look forward to the year ahead. We are proud to have this industry leader manufacturing in our region.”

Spencer Industries’ manufacturing and support operations in Hampton County include thermoforming (vacuum and pressure forming), CNC trimming, fabrication, & assembly (riveting, crimping, sonic welding, & mechanical fasteners). Founded in 1981 in Dale, Indiana, Spencer Industries began with 58 employees. Following several expansions, the company purchased the former T.O.
